Allertova lost, Kovinic and Gasparyan are fighting for the title

EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015 tournament is still expecting the singles final. On the clay tournament in Trnava, Margarita Gasparyan advanced into finals and won against Denisa Allertova (22) after the result 7-5, 6-2. The Monte Negro player Danka Kovinic (20) managed to beat the Latvian junior player Jelena Ostapenko (17) with the final result 6-2, 2-6, 4-6.

Right now, the No. 135 Margarita Gasparyan is enjoying her successful season and she has already won three ITF tournaments titles. She had got the two of them at 25K tournament in France Andrezieux-Boutheon, and in Moscow, and she had also won one title at 50K tournament in Croisy-Beauborg, France. The 20-year-old player has a brilliant one-handed backhand, one of the best among the Russian players. She was very happy to advance into the finals in Trnava. “I played very well, but Allertova was a demanding opponent. But when I got the first set, I got much closer to the triumph,“ says Gasparyan, who had not lost a set in the singles matches in Trnava.

At EMPIRE Slovak Open, Gasparyan also played the doubles matches with Beygelzimer, and they won the title and triumphed over Serbo-Croatian pair Krunic/Martic 6-3, 6-2. Gasparyan had also been in Trnava one year ago, when she lost with Rodin at the doubles finals. Now, she got her compensation.

Beygelzimer and Gasparyan had their first match together during their careers. “We got well with each other at the court. She is a great girl,” says Beygelzimer after reaching the title.

Kovinic advances as she beats Ostapenko

Kovinic from Monte Negro, the world No. 95, had a brilliant start of the second EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015 semifinals, but Ostapenko made the match more dramatic. “At the beginning, I was slow, I did not move very well. I did not feel well at the court. But I am happy I have won,“ says Kovinic, whose greatest problem was opponent's return.

At the finals, the Monte Negro player is going to fight with the Russian Gasparyan. She had already won over her. She had beat her two years ago at the qualifying of the WTA tournament in Moscow with the result 6-3, 6-4. “Though I won, she has improved a lot since. She has a great serve. For me, it is going to be fast finals with the short balls and short rallies,“ Kovinic added.

The Sunday finals is going to take place at 11 a.m. at the central court of the tennis club TC EMPIRE Trnava.
