Lys with the most valuable title

German tennis player Eva Lys (20) won the singles title at the 2nd W60 EMPIRE Women's Indoor 2022 tournament in TC EMPIRE Trnava. In the final, she beat the 28-year-old Slovak Anna Karolína Schmiedlová 6:2, 4:6, 6:2.

Schmiedlová was sad after losing in the final, but in the end she evaluated the tournament positively. "It was a very good tournament for me. Much better than I expected. Even the final is basically a success for me. Maybe I lack strength at the end of the season. I'm a little sad today, but I have to admit that Eva played very well. It really worked out for her," said Schmiedlová, who earned 48 points in the WTA singles rankings and a financial bonus of 4,886 US dollars before taxes.

Lys already played in the first 60K tournament in Trnava, but she lost in the semi-finals of singles to the Chinese Wang 4-6 3-6. "I had a good chance last week. So this week I told myself I’m gonna put every effort I have and in the end of the day I did it," said Lys, for whom this is the most valuable title in her career.

Slovak tennis player Rebecca Šramková (25) won the doubles title together with Sofya Lansere (22) at the second tournament of the EITT 2022 series. In Saturday's final of the event called 2nd W60 EMPIRE Women's Indoor 2022, the Slovak-Russian pair dealt with the Taiwanese pair Lee/Wu  4-6 6-2 11-9.
