EMPIRE Slovak Open 2017 number 1 seed Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium has reached second round in Trnavae. Rebecca Sramkova, last years singles semifinalist, lost in the first round as well as Anna Karolína Schmiedlová. Viktória Kužmová was succesful after 2 hours 32 minutes of battle royal against Muhammad of USA in final set tie breaker.

Rebecca Sramkova is defending last year’s singles semifinals in Trnava

Rebecca Sramkova (19) was this year‘s star of the Slovak Fed Cup team in Italy, where she managed to beat even such experienced players as Sara Errani and Francesca Schiavone. One year ago, she played at the EMPIRE Slovak Open in semifinals. Now, she has even higher ambitions. She is currently world No. 120, but she would like to improve her position. "I think the spectators should come and see the tournament, because they can see the top quality tennis here.

Vondrousova overwhelming Mihalikova, Kilnarova against number 1 seed

EMPIRE Slovak Open 2017 in Trnava finished qualifying matches on Monday. MONIKA KILNAROVA and NICOLE MELICHAROVA also moved to the main draw. The Main Draw matches were also played, when MARKETA VONDROUSOVA overcame Slovak opponent TEREZA MIHALIKOVA easily in just 54 minutes 6:0, 6:1.

Monika Kilnarova qualified for the main draw by defeating Laura Svatikova in 2 straight sets 6:2, 7:6.

First day of EMPIRE Slovak Open 2017, Jamrichova & Hradecka won in the qualifying

First day of EMPIRE Slovak Open 2017, biggest women's tennis event organized in Slovakia, brought very quick first round qualifying matches. Match between Jamrichova and Pantuckova lasted only 40 minutes with Jamrichova winning easily. The silver medallist from the London Olympics Czech Lucie Hradecka defeated young Slovak player Morvayova.

Siniakova wins most prestigious career title

Katerina Siniakova from Czech Republic won the EMPIRE Slovak Open 2016 title (prize money 100 000 USD, clay). WTA No. 124, 22 years old Siniakova beat the Latvian Anastasija Sevastova (26)   (94.), winner from four years ago, number three seeded, in three sets 7-6, 5-7, 6-0.

Siniakova lost lead in second set, being 5-1 up. She made nine double faults. After Strycova win in 2013, this is second Czech player to take the title from Trnava.

Siniakova in the final, Sramkova out

Katerina Siniakova (20) advanced into the ITF EMPIRE Slovak Open 2016 in Trnava after beating Zarina Diyas (22) from Kazakhstan in three sets 6-3, 0-6, 6-4. In the first semi-final on the centre court, Latvian Sevastova beat home player Rebecca Sramkova 6-1, 6-3. Final is scheduled for Sunday at 11:00 am.

Sramkova and Siniakova make semi-final in Trnava

Slovakian Rebecca Sramkova reached the singles semi-final of EMPIRE Slovak Open 2016. On Saturday morning, at 11 am, she will challenge Latvian Sevastova. Czech Katerina Siniakova is the other known semi-finalist. She will play Diyas from Kazachstan in TC EMPIRE club in Trnava in the second semi-final of the day.

Rebecca Sramkova wins Slovakian derby in Trnava

Rainy Thursday allowed only two singles matches to start at EMPIRE Slovak Open 2016. Rebecca Sramkova was successful in 2nd round on the centre court, beating Jana Cepelova 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 and advanced to the quarterfinal.
